Best Puppy Food
|
|
A lot of people wonder what the best food for their puppy
is. And while some people just go after the major brands such as Pedigree or
Iams, we listed some criteria that you may want to follow to give your puppy
the best food you can offer.
Choosing the Best
Puppy Food – General Tips
1.
The best puppy food follows the nutritional profile of the American Association
of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). The AAFCO provides
|
regulations for the sale of animal food. Foods that
follow the AAFCO should also be fed to all dogs at all stages of life.
2. You should make sure that the puppy food you are buying
has protein listed in the top 5 ingredients. Protein such as chicken meal or
catfish are really good ingredients as they are a high source of protein and
the catfish has essential oils.
3. The best puppy food doesn’t contain any wheat, glutens,
corn, soy or dairy. Even though these foods are natural, these ingredients are
harder for a puppy to digest.
4. Stay away from food that have by-products. By-products are
leftover meat after the best parts of the meat/chicken have been removed. Some
examples of by-products are intestines or chicken heads. Some of the more
popular brands out there contain these by-products so make sure to read the
label carefully.
5. The best puppy food should not contain any chemical
preservatives like Ethoxquin, |
